Join us for fashion, fun, learning and creating! Perfect for Beginners with no experience and Youth (with some sewing experience interested in learning more).

The Youth Fashion Workshop is offered to youth
For those who pay for the Youth Fashion Workshop, within 24 hours you will receive details on the workshop including location, Contact form and the waiver (a copy of the waiver is also located at the end of this page).
Youth will learn.
The youth will have the opportunity to learn the following:
Sewing machine basics
Intro to basic sewing techniques
Fashion Design techniques
Each student will get to interact with fabric and sewing tools.
Be in a creative environment to learn a valuable skill.
Snacks and water provided
What to bring:
Youth brings 1 piece to design or recreate. This piece can be a pair of socks, pillow case, jeans, t-shirt, etc.
This must be an item the youth has approval to design on.
Sewing machines are provided to use at the location. Wear comfortable clothing and shoes. Student is responsible for their belongings. In this class the students will not construct a full fashion piece, they will be able to use the sewing machine to sew items on their design. ABOUT THE SEWING MENTOR
DENISHA-DLANG FERGUSON IS THE CREATOR AND EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF INDIANA FASHION FOUNDATION. DENISHA BEGAN HER CAREER IN FASHION AS A SEWIST IN HER EARLY TEENS. SHE TOOK APART CLOTHING TO LEARN HOW TO SEW AND FOUND SEWING MENTORS. AT THE AGE OF 15, SHE PRODUCED HER FIRST FASHION SHOW AS A WAY TO PROVIDE A PLATFORM FOR CREATORS TO SHOWCASE THEIR WORK. HER HEART FOR FASHION AND FOR PEOPLE HAS AIDED HER IN GARNERING OVER 20 YEARS OF EXPERTISE IN RESEARCH, PROJECT MANAGEMENT, AND DESIGN WITHIN THE INDUSTRY. IT IS HER MISSION TO USE HER INFLUENCE AND RESOURCES TO PROVIDE EDUCATION AND OPPORTUNITY FOR THOSE WHO ASPIRE TO EXCEL IN CREATIVE FIELDS.

I agree to release and hold harmless all employees, directors, executive director, affiliates, partners, instructors and/or volunteers of Indiana Fashion Foundation Corporation all claims or liability related to any accident that may arise as a result of my and/or my child’s participation in this program/camp/workshop. I understand that sewing includes the use of machines, needles, scissors and other tools. These activities include risks that can cause or lead to injury. I grant permission to operate machines and to use tools and equipment. I give permission for first aid and/or medical treatment to be given if the need arises.
I grant to Indiana Fashion Foundation, its representatives and employees the right to take photographs of me and/or my child in connection with sewing classes. I authorize Indiana Fashion Foundation its assigns and transferees to copyright, use and publish without mention of my child’s name the same in print and/or electronically. I agree that Indiana Fashion Foundation may use such photographs of me/my child for any lawful purpose, including for example such purposes as publicity, illustration, advertising, and Web content, throughout the word, with no compensation for use.
REFUNDS & WITHDRAWAL POLICY
Space is limited. There are no refunds. All sales are FINAL! You can transfer this class only to another student (review age limit), but their parent/guardian must agree with the terms and participation.
CLASS CANCELLATION POLICY
Workshops are cancelled or have early dismissal due to inclement weather. Students/parents will be notified via email if the workshop is cancelled. In addition, cancelled workshops days will be posted on www.facebook.com/Indianafashionweek. Efforts will be made to make-up weather cancelled workshops, but are not guaranteed. The make-up day will be on Dec 31, 2019. In the event that there is no make-up day, the fee will be refunded minus $3.95 processing fee.
No Refunds. SPACE is limited.
Parents/Guardians it is expected that you have a conversation with your youth regarding appropriate behavior and how to positively handle themselves during a lesson at the Indiana Fashion Foundation.
Indiana Fashion Foundation reserves the right to withdraw a student from lessons, for inappropriate behavior (not limited to the below) and improper use of the sewing machines/equipment.
Due to the nature of working with machinery, Indiana Fashion Foundation will not tolerate behavior deemed dangerous or harmful. Indiana Fashion Foundation will not tolerate bullying or behavior not appropriate to others in attendance and/or via online. Parent will be immediately contacted to come get the youth.
Indiana Fashion Foundation reserves the right to terminate workshop for the youth and no refund will be issued. Indiana Fashion Foundation reserves the right to NOT allow the youth to return to workshop if parent/youth demonstrates improved behavior
The purpose is to create a safe creative space for youth to thrive creatively. Anything not positive, dangerous, and/or offensive will not be tolerated.
