It’s a coming out party! Emily Gartner of Emily Gartner Designs has, for several years, identified as a bespoke textile artist. However, during Indiana Fashion Week 2021, she came out of the fashion designer closet with her beautifully eclectic “Wedding Garden Party” collection. Gartner leaned on her textile design expertise, hand-dyeing skills, and her commitment to sustainability to tell a colorful story. The looks in the collection were designed to compliment the personalities of her models (which, by the way, represent Gartner’s target market) yet managed to have a mass-market appeal. A combination of tie dye, floral & geometric prints, and an up-cycled wedding dress made for a diverse collection that used color to bring cohesion.
