COMPETITION OVERVIEW

Mission

The INDFW Emerging Designer Competition was designed to provide educational, entertainment, and exhibition opportunities for emerging designers both in-state and nationally. Semifinalists chosen to showcase during the Indiana Fashion Week 2022 will have access to:

Opportunities in Indiana & global fashion industry (as these are presented)
Mentoring & critiques by international fashion industry experts
Recognition on local and national media outlets
Professional-quality runway show production
Professional portfolio building opportunities
Design planning and implementation discussions

Prizes

$5,000 manufacturing scholarship to be used toward manufacturing collection (review disbursement information and what part of manufacturing the scholarship can be used towards.)
Full scholarship to attend the 2022 IFF Emerging Designer Incubator (Hosted Fall 2022)
In-person lunch or personal Zoom Meeting with fashion industry professional

OFFICIAL RULES

The competition is open to designers in Indiana and the Midwest.

INTERESTED FASHION DESIGNERS WILL BE REQUIRED TO…

Submit an online application
Submit a portfolio of their work in PDF format

Eight (8) semi-finalists will be selected by a panel of fashion industry experts.

Semi-finalists will be announced publicly on Thursday, June 22, 2021 and will move on to compete during Indiana Fashion Week 2022.

SELECTED SEMI-FINALISTS WILL BE REQUIRED TO…

Attend two (2) designer informational sessions in preparation for Indiana Fashion Week.
Pay a reduced fee of $500 towards production costs (Deposit of $250 due by June 10, 2022 / Final payment due by June 19, 2022)
Design and construct five (5) looks to present on July 30, 2022 during Indiana Fashion Week

Regarding Participation Fee: We are a community-driven platform and this fee is an diminutive portion of vast resources needed to bring this opportunity to Indiana. We look forward to creating opportunities that can aid you in your career.
