Rules

​

  1. Theme: The theme of the sneaker competition is "Basketball -inspired Sneaker Design."

  2. Eligibility: The competition is open to participants of all ages, both amateurs and professionals, from around the world.

  3. Entry Submission: Participants must submit their Basketball-inspired (Historia- sneaker design entries online through a dedicated platform. The submission deadline is set for June 30, 2023 11:59pm. Notified by July 8, 2023.

  4. Design Requirements: The sneaker designs should draw inspiration from Basketball and reflect their unique characteristics. 

  5. Intellectual Property: Participants retain full ownership rights to their submitted designs. However, by participating in the competition, participants grant the organizers a non-exclusive license to showcase and promote their designs in relation to the competition.

  6. Judging Process: The judging panel consists of industry professionals, including designers, athletes, and sneaker experts. Designs will be evaluated based on criteria such as originality, creativity, relevance to the Basketball theme, craftsmanship, and overall aesthetic appeal. The judging process will be conducted anonymously, with each design assigned a unique identifier to ensure impartiality.

  7. Prizes: The competition will award the following prizes:

    • Adult

    • 1st Place: $200 Cash Prize + Winner will design a sneaker in collaboration with Kicasso sneaker Art Bar, which will be available for retail at Kicasso Sneaker Art Bar and online. 

    • 2nd Place $100 Cash Prize

    •  

    • Youth

    • 1st Place: $75 Cash Prize 

    • 2nd Place $50 Cash Prize

  8. Exhibition or Showcasing: The winning designs, along with a selection of notable entries, will be showcased in a physical exhibition held at [insert location] and through an online gallery on the competition's website. The exhibition will be open to the public, allowing participants and sneaker enthusiasts to appreciate the designs.

  9. Code of Conduct: Participants are expected to maintain a high level of sportsmanship, respect, and integrity throughout the competition. Any form of plagiarism or unethical behavior will result in immediate disqualification. The competition organizers reserve the right to take appropriate action in response to any violation of the code of conduct.

  10. Disqualification and Appeals: Participants may be disqualified if they fail to comply with the competition rules or engage in any form of misconduct. In case of a dispute or appeal, participants can submit a written appeal to the competition organizers within [specify timeframe]. The organizers will review the appeal and make a final decision.

  11. Promotion and Publicity: The competition will be promoted through various channels, including social media platforms, the competition website, and partnerships with relevant sports organizations or influencers. Participants are encouraged to share their progress and use the competition's designated hashtags to increase visibility and engagement.

  12. Use of Image Permission: By submitting their designs, participants grant the competition organizers the right to use, reproduce, and display the images of their sneaker designs for promotional and marketing purposes related to the competition. This includes but is not limited to, online promotion, social media posts, website content, press releases, and exhibition materials. The participants understand that their images may be altered, cropped, or edited as necessary for promotional purposes while still maintaining the integrity of the original design. The organizers will make reasonable efforts to provide proper attribution to the participants whenever their images are used.

  1. Display and Sale of Shoes: Selected sneaker designs from the competition will be put on display throughout the duration of the fair. Participants will have the option to make their shoes available for sale during the fair. The pricing and sale arrangements will be discussed individually with the participants who express interest in selling their designs.

  • Any shoes sold will be paid out by the Indiana State Fair on or by October 30, 2023. Participants will receive the proceeds from the sale of their shoes as agreed upon during the sale arrangements.

  • The shoes will remain on display for the duration of the fair. The purchaser of a shoe will have the opportunity to retrieve the purchased shoe after the fair closes, during the week of August 21, 2023.

  • Once a shoe is sold, the designer cannot change their mind or revoke the sale. The sale is considered final, and the designer is obligated to fulfill the transaction.

  1. Shoe Pick-up: For participants whose shoes are not sold during the fair, they can collect their remaining shoes on August 21, 2023. The exact time for the pick-up will be disclosed by the competition organizers. Participants will be responsible for retrieving their shoes or arranging for someone else to collect them on their behalf. The organizers will not be responsible for storing the shoes beyond the specified pick-up date.

  2. Participant Video Submission: Each participant is required to submit a video about themselves, their creativity, and the reasons why they are participating in the competition. The video should be engaging, showcasing their personality, passion for design, and their unique perspective on sneaker design. The video should be a maximum of [insert duration] and can be submitted along with their sneaker design entry.

  3. Sharing on Social Media and in marketing: By submitting the participant video under 3 minutes, participants grant the competition organizers the right to share the video on their official social media platforms and other promotional channels associated with the competition. This includes but is not limited to, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, and the competition's website. Additionally, the videos may also be shared with relevant media outlets or partners for promotional purposes related to the competition and or programs.

  4. Participation Fee for Selected Participants: Upon selection of their participation in the sneaker design contest, participants will be required to pay a participation fee of $30 to the Indiana State Fair. The participation fee is applicable only to chosen participants. It should be paid directly to the Indiana State Fair by the July 15, 2023. The payment link will be provided to participants.
